Repacks of Li-ion laptop Batteries
We have for some years successfully repacked batteries for Lithium Ion (Li-ion) packs.
If the circuit board has blown a diode we can check and normally repair.
Many circuit boards are deliberately designed to promote in-house factory repairs.
Some packs are completely dead and have to be opened to be checked.
You can normally work out battery quantity from the voltage on pack. E.g. 12v divided by 1.2 (Volts per battery) = 10 batteries.
Please note that we can no longer supply repacked batteries outside of Gauteng. Costs of transport have rendered out of town repacks less viable than was the case previously.
Our new batteries are landing at prices that negate the repacking benefits on a 12 cell battery – unless you require a 6-cell model, price differences between repacks and new are not as dramatically different as previously.
| What does Repacking Entail?
We open the battery pack, remove the old cells, rebuild the cell infrastructure with new cells, re-connect the microprocessor |
|
Cell replacement is your best option when the battery price is too high or the battery is out of production. |
| How Much will it Cost? |
| Use the table below as a rough guide. Repacking is generally the cheaper option! If your pack is rated at 10.8V it most likely contains 9 cells. If the amperage is substantially higher then it most likely contains 12 cells.

We will not charge you for our time if we are not successful. We offer a 14 day money back guarantee In such an event we will re-insert your old cells at no cost. All Li-Ion packs contain microprocessor based management circuitry. It may be that this circuitry is damaged in which case you will have no option but to replace the battery pack. We will test this circuitry and will attempt the repack if we consider that the chance of success is good. |
